I know that I said this in another thread, and I'll definitely admit some bias here, but Ike Ackerman might be a name to keep an eye on. He is my cousin's kid and remarkable athlete. He set a Metro Conference Meet record this past weekend in discuss, throwing 169' (second place threw 153') and he won shot shot too, throwing 59'7" (Christian Jones got second at 52'1"). He is probably a fringe D-1 football player, but he also is the exact kid that Rhule seems to like to take a chance on and develops into a monster in 3-4years because of his upside. Seems like a perfect candidate for a NIL scholarship.
Dude blew the comp away in shotput today.

Soooo…. My personal long term expectations of consistently having recruiting classes in the TOP 10 (once in a blue moon TOP 15); are basically never going to happen?

How are we expected from an NIL standpoint to acquire the talent of Sanders, Shull, Terry III, etc? I guess my expectations are to land multiple 5 ⭐️ every year ESPECIALLY with how well HCMR builds relationships, the best facilities in CFB, and our NIL (which should be no lower than TOP 10, maybe TOP 15).

I assume the plan is to get top 15-20 classes and then add lots of developmental guys and the occasional transfer, since we don’t have the NIL to bag top 10 classes and Rhules is heavy on the developmental stuff

Will this model win titles because that is all that matters here, otherwise close up shop and forget about it. If Frost can sleepwalk through TOP 15-20 classes, zero reason IMO Rhule can’t pull in TOP 10 classes 2-3 years out of 5 where those other 2-3 years are TOP 15.

Feels like the Sanders, Terry, Shull, are all for nothing if we don’t have the commitment in NIL.

I think the idea is that the more success we show on the field, the more NIL dollars will pour in and help us bring in the best of the best. An 8-9 win season this fall would go a long ways. I don't think our NIL operation will be stuck where it's at forever as the team gets more competitive.

I don't think a top 10 class is out of the question, but it requires finding the right guys who truly value team over self. 5 stars with that mentality do exist. I think the pitch would be something like, "We take care of everyone here because it's truly a family. So you'll be guaranteed a base salary just like everyone else. When you succeed here there will be plenty of additional NIL opportunities from private businesses wanting to sign you to endorsement deals."

Oh we're poor in NIL dollars alright.

It will get us into the playoffs every year, no natty's though. Hopefully if we start winning the NIL will increase and then we can start pulling in top 10-15 classes every year.

Our main priority right now needs to be to building a team that's consistently ranked in the top 25 and in the discussion for the 12 team playoff

Without that there's a strong chance we get left out of the next round of conference realignment

I don't know how long we're going to be able to keep up our strategy before NCAA rules adjust, but seems to me that we're just taking a different approach to NIL and recruiting. I think baseline is more being able to add a guy like Wilhite to a 30 man class and carrying an effective roster of 95. If we can do that and pull some 5 stars, watch out.
