I mean our offense looks better because of Northwestern game and our defense looks worse because of special teams and offensive fuck ups, no?

I almost posted that offense might just be a contest of whoever tea bagged northwestern the worst.

But overall I think it's still somewhat informative because it mostly removes the differences in scheduling

I don't think things like pick sixes or punt returns or safeties are counted when calculating scoring defense. It's just points scored against the defense.

In the calculation in the OP, they are (not sure about other sites). We allowed a total of 158 points to the west division opponents. Over 6 games that is 26.33.

I fucked up and didn't read the very first line of his post lol

Aside from the safeties when we played MN and Cockeye, did our offense or ST score for the other team? Been trying to block this season out in my mind.

Punt blocked for a TD against Cockeye and fumble return for TD against Illinois off the top of my head. Illinois had a safety as well.

*Edit: Purdue had a pick 6 and Wisconsin opened the game with a kick return for TD

So overall that is 34 points not given up by the defense. So 124 over 6 games is 20.66, so we don’t actually move up any spots in scoring D, but the number looks better.

Has Nebraska scored a TD on a punt or kickoff return under Frost? It seems to me that since Frost has been here, we've just settled for a fair catch on punts and might try to run one out every now and then on a kickoff. I believe DPE might have been the last person to score on special teams. I could be wrong and too lazy to look it up.

Somebody said something really stupid..... they said Nebraska was positive in net point in every quarter... Talk about a stat that you wont ever see again from a 3-9 team

“Cockeyes becomes the first Big Ten team since 2000 to go to the conference championship game without beating a single ranked team throughout the season.”

This was an impressive one
Teams that lose generally struggle to be ranked. So, that math checks out.

Papa Ferentz is 7-7 against Meatchicken. The rubber match is Saturday.

You are correct. They aren't omitted. If you omit them, it'll bring it down a bit, but at least my main takeaway was that lots of Big Ten west teams are winning lots of low scoring games.

My main inspiration was when I look at our scoring defense and saw we were like 38th in FBS, 25th or so among P5 teams, but still like 9th in our conference
