We live in a small town. We don’t have those issues, if we did I’d run for the school board and insure we didn’t have those issues. Homeschooling is a joke. A family friend did it and had to go an extra year to get credits to graduate. He also couldn’t handle regular College cause it was too tough due to the social aspect. Yeah tell your kids to keep running from their problems. Lol

I just question the public school education system that produced a grown man that can't spell "ensure" correctly... Probably the same public school system that produced Dean...

I'm a public school supporter, but unfortunately, stuff like that is true. Now, it could happen anywhere (and I'm sure different schools would handle it differently), but my wife is teacher and knows of schools that have litter boxes in their bathrooms. It's interesting, forsure, but I'm not quite sure how it's the schools' responsibility. I know damn well teachers aren't telling their students that they can be wolves, dogs, cats... - it's happening at home and what they absorb while on their phone, etc...

At least my 0.02.
Hmm... so where are all these kids who think they're animals and force their school to pretend they're animals? I've seen that litterbox rumor from anti-school people over the past couple years but have never seen a single kid who thinks they're an animal out in the world, or heard of one from any teachers I know or my dozen nieces/nephews who are all in public schools, or any friends with school aged kids. And I move through pretty "progressive" circles compared to most of this board! Haha.

The only time I've seen any sort of actual reporting on this topic was when weird-ass politicians were spreading rumors about litterboxes at schools and school districts/principals had to release statements saying it was total nonsense.

give me a fucking break hahaha this cannot be real. I have multiple friends and family members who are public school teachers and I have never heard of anything remotely close to this happening.

I'm sitting with my 13 now and asked him about this. His middle school in LPS has several furies. Cats, dogs, and a random animal. The furies are not allowed to wear headwear or tails but they still wear clothing and makeup and act/make animal noises.

I can’t decide who’s weirder. A parent who’s so radical politically they don’t want their kids to go to school, or a parent who can’t tell their kid they’re not a fucking animal.

He’s right, it’s unfortunately very true. Have friends with kids at multiple high schools here in Lincoln and the stories I’ve heard are mind blowing. One girl who identifies as a cat and her friends walk her on a leash in the hallways while she meows at students and teachers.

Kids were doing that shit when I was in high school 10-15 years ago. It was probably even worse since it was the peak of the late 2000’s emo trend with the neon clothes and huge swoopy hair.

You know what you did? Ignored them and made fun of them because they are fvcking weirdos. Not freak out and cry like a bitch thinking you are gonna catch the gay from them.

Huge straw man detected. All these parents want their kids to go to school. They are simply choosing to reject schools that teach and even encourage sexual perversion and instead enroll in different schools that don't (whether a different public school, private school, or homeschool).

According to the bible, anything not for procreation is a sexual perversion. Have you had oral sex? Perversion. Masturbate? Perversion. Butt sex with your wife? Perversion. So if your basis for being anti-gay is, "It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," why is it your sexual perversion is acceptable but other people's isn't?

Are you the one who brought the Bible into this or did I miss an earlier post

No, it's me. I added the caveat that my point was for people whose basis for being anti-gay is the bible. So this doesn't cover everyone.

This has been my experience, at least.

I just want to understand why someone thinks gay sex is a perversion. I'd like to understand their view.

Aren't we talking about what should and should not be impressed on children in public schools? If you're arguing that public school teachers should not encourage children in other sexual perversions I'm happy to agree with you.

I haven't seen any teachers telling kids to be gay.
