Nebraska Postgame Notes - vs. Indiana (Oct. 1, 2022)

-
With its win, Nebraska cut Indiana's lead in the all-time series to 10-9-3. The Huskers are 2-1 against the Hoosiers as Big Ten foes, while Indiana dropped to 8-6-2 against Nebraska in Lincoln.

- Nebraska improved to 84-23-4 all-time on Homecoming and is 8-2 against Big Ten teams on Homecoming.

- Nebraska improved to 49-10 all-time in home night games at Memorial Stadium, including 8-4 against Big Ten teams

- Nebraska scored a touchdown on its first possession of the evening, marching 72 yards in just three plays to take a 7-0 lead. It marked the fourth time in five games Nebraska has scored on its opening possession

- True freshman cornerback Malcolm Hartzog made his first career start in tonight's game. Hartzog had played in all four games, primarily on special teams

- Hartzog had a 30-yard blocked punt returned for a touchdown in the second quarter on a punt blocked by Chris Kolarevic. It marked Nebraska's first blocked punt return for a touchdown since Justin Blatchford had a 25-yard return of a blocked punt for a touchdown at Baylor on Oct. 31, 2009.

- Kolarevic's blocked punt was NU's second of the season (Javin Wright vs. North Dakota)

- The blocked punt touchdown marked Nebraska's first special teams touchdown of any kind since JD Spielman had a 76-yard punt return touchdown vs. South Alabama on Aug. 31, 2019

- Nebraska had both a rushing and passing touchdown against Indiana and has had a rushing TD and passing TD in all five games this season. The previous time the Huskers had both a rushing and passing touchdown in each of the season's first five games was in 2016

- Receiver Trey Palmer caught eight passes for a career-high 157 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Palmer bettered his previous career-high of 92 yards vs. Oklahoma. Palmer has had at least 68 receiving yards in each of Nebraska's five games.

- The 71-yard touchdown pass from Casey Thompson to Palmer was the longest pass play of the season for Nebraska and the Huskers' longest pass play since a 72-yard touchdown reception by Samori Toure last year against Ohio State.

- Palmer's 100-yard receiving game marked the third different Husker with a 100-yard receiving effort in 2022 (Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda vs. Northwestern; Marcus Washington vs. Georgia Southern)

- Running back Anthony Grant carried 32 times for 136 yards. It marked Grant's fourth 100-yard rushing effort in five games this season. Grant is the first Husker with four 100-yard rushing games in a season since Devine Ozigbo had five 100-yard games in 2018.

- Grant's 32 carries were a career-high and he is the first Husker to have 30 carries in a game since Tre Bryant had 31 carries against Arkansas State on Sept. 2, 2017

- Receiver Oliver Martin caught a 34-yard touchdown pass on Nebraska's opening drive for his first TD catch of the season and the second of his Husker career. Martin finished the game with three catches for 65 yards, marking season highs in both categories

- Nebraska edge rusher Garrett Nelson made his 25th consecutive start on Saturday. Nelson had a career-high two sacks for 18 yards, bettering his previous best of 1.5 sacks against Purdue in 2020

- Nebraska linebacker Luke Reimer finished with five tackles. Reimer increased his career tackle total to 203 to become the 41st Husker in program history with more than 200 career tackles.

- Reimer had a third-quarter interception, marking his second career interception (2021 vs. Buffalo), and he also had a career-high two pass breakups
